Education Programme

MADRA has been delivering an education programme for Primary and Secondary School students across Galway for a number of years and this year, in conjunction with Galway City Council, we will also be providing school visits in Galway city.

As part of our programme, we visit children in their classrooms and through fun, interactive workshops we aim to teach children about responsible behaviour towards animals. Workshops are designed to suit all class levels and to engage children in discussing issues surrounding dog welfare and safety around dogs.

The goal of our programme is to teach compassion and responsibility towards all animals and dogs. If you would like to book a school visit email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Mission Statement

MADRA is a Connemara based dog rescue & re-homing facility whose ultimate and overall aim is to ensure that all dogs have permanent, loving homes. MADRA works to educate members of the general public to have a responsible attitude towards dogs and their welfare and to help create a world where no healthy, good-natured dogs are killed merely because they are considered to be a surplus number.
