Volunteer Information Day

Could you spare a couple of hours each month to help our dogs??  If the answer is yes then please come along to our Volunteer Information Day on Saturday October 13th from 10am - 4pm at our new warehouse in Westside Enterprise Park, Galway.
There are tonnes of ways that you can support our charity, either by walking dogs at the kennels, helping out at our charity shop in Moycullen, by fostering dogs when they need a little bit of TLC, conducting home-checks and transporting dogs to their new homes, or helping out with fundraising events and awareness raising campaigns.
We know that our kennels are sometimes a little far-out for those of you without your own transport, or if you are living the other side of the county, so this information day will introduce the other ways that you can support MADRA.Volunteers and the general public can call in for a chat with Marina, Tara and all the team. We will also be using this time to get our new city based office ready.
On the day we will be accepting donations of clothes/bric-a-brac and can collect larger items from the city by request. We hope that you can make it, or if you can't make it on the day then please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information on how you can help our four-legged friends!

Teddy Bear Hunt and Dog Walk at Rosscahill Woods in aid of MADRA

On Sunday June 17th MADRA will host a fundraising dog walk and teddy bear rescue mission in the Rosscahill Woods.

The charity walk will commence at 2pm with registration taking place at the Killannin Community Centre in advance. The walk is being organised to raise money for the MADRA ambulance fund which has been established to help us with the purchase of a new van.

The three mile walk of the woodlands will have some surprises in store for younger participants with an educational and interactive dog teddy bear rescue mission. Dog teddy bears will be located throughout the woodland trail with individual notes explaining why each teddy bear needs help.

We have added the dog teddy bear rescue mission to teach younger children about responsible dog ownership. When the children find a teddy bear they then bring it back to gamesgames meet the dog trainer to find out how their teddy’s problem can be solved. Once they have figured out the solution they can then bring their rescue teddy home with them.

The dog walk will conclude with a complimentary hot dog BBQ and refreshments at the Killannin Community Centre.

MADRA Dog Expo 2012 - Another success!

We'd like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who turned up to support MADRA at the Dog Expo last Sunday.

The weather was fantastic and tails were wagging all around the Black Box venue.

We'd also like to thank our exhibitors and our media & event partners for their support, our celebrity judges...and of course our fabulous volunteers and organising committee without whom there would be no Dog Expo!

Hope to see you next year :)

Mission Statement

MADRA is a Connemara based dog rescue & re-homing facility whose ultimate and overall aim is to ensure that all dogs have permanent, loving homes. MADRA works to educate members of the general public to have a responsible attitude towards dogs and their welfare and to help create a world where no healthy, good-natured dogs are killed merely because they are considered to be a surplus number.
