MADRA Press Release
Raise the Roof at The Dogs' Dinner for MADRA
The picturesque surroundings of Corrib Yachting and Rowing Club in Galway city will provide the venue for MADRA’s ‘The Dogs' Dinner’ fundraising event which will take place on Saturday, July 9th, from 7 pm.
The summer party is being organised to help MADRA launch their fundraising drive to meet the cost of essential improvement works which are currently underway at the Connemara-based rescue facility.
With over fifty-thousand euro needed for a new roof, extended kennel space and other enhancements, the organisation is hoping to “raise the roof” of Corrib Yachting and Rowing Club with a fun-filled night of food, music, spot prizes and surprises.
Tickets are €25 and include a vegetarian/vegan buffet and a welcome drink. The event is BYOB (bring your own beverage), but soft drinks, glasses and ice will be provided.
MADRA PRO, Eileen Keleghan, encouraged Galway’s dog lovers to join the charity for this fun night out.
“We are calling on our supporters and volunteers to join us for a night of good food, great company, and some serious floor-fillers to help us kick-start our 'Raise the Wuff' fundraising campaign for our building fund.
“It is unusual for us to have an event where dogs have to stay at home, but to make up for this there will be a dog-theme and surprises, and you may even end up in the Dog House before the night is out!” said Eileen Keleghan.
Advance purchase is advisable. For those who cannot attend, there is an option to purchase a 'Sorry I can't make it' ticket at a reduced rate.
Corrib Yachting and Rowing Club is situated at Earls Island on Distillery Road (near NUI Galway and Galway Cathedral).
Walking from Town:
On University Road (at the Cathedral) turn right towards Fisheries Field (where the Arts Festival Big Top gigs take place), walk over the silver foot bridges and take the next right towards Aras na MacLeinn (and the NUIG College Bar). When you see Aras na MacLeinn in front of you, walk to the left along by the black hoarding and take a right-hand turn at the side of the building (we'll have a sign there!). Walk straight ahead and you'll see railings and the gate for the venue will be to your right.
Aras na Mac Leinn: Go to the left, along by the black hoarding and take a right at the side of the building.
Alternatively you can take the road opposite Wards Shop and head straight towards Aras na Mac Leinn (which will be on your right). When you see Aras na MacLeinn in front of you, walk to the left along by the black hoarding and take a right-hand turn at the side of the building (we'll have a sign there!). Walk straight ahead and you'll see railings and the gate for the venue will be to your right.
From Newcastle Road, turn in to the NUI Galway College campus (either at the Kingfisher or the AIB Bank), take a right and follow the road around until you arrive at the building.
