MADRA @sinead_lydon Looks fab, thanks for your support🐾
Peter (left), Alex (right) and Sam (bottom).....our three remaining members of the "Tricky" family who came to us from a hoarding situation in 2016. Many of you will have read Sam's incredible story during the week from a broken shell to one of sparkling personality! https://www.facebook.com/madradogrescue/posts/10155614930148122
He's still on the look-out for a special home. His uncle or brother Peter (top left) is still at our shelter and finally after 15 months with little progress, he is beginning to emerge from his shell. He is finally taking treats from our hands and allowing us to touch him. He's not sure about us just yet but there is a certain amount of trust there now. We even get a waggy tail from him sometimes! ? He loves running around our yard with the other dogs. We have just started, very slowly to get him used to walking on a lead. He is still wary of the world and anything new to his routine but we 100% believe, that like Sam, he is a star in the making!

Alex (on the right) is without a doubt the trickiest of our "Trickies". After 15 months with us, he is still petrified of us. He spends all his time in bed (as Peter and Sam did too). We regularly try to hand feed him treats but he recoils if we come too near him and will snap if we push too much, too soon. We want to gain his trust so it's important that we can find a foster home where he dictates the pace. For now, all we can do is to regularly toss tasty treats next to him. We keep doing this over and over so he can associate us with something positive. He shared his kennel recently with Snoozy our older greyhound girl and he seemed a bit more animated but it is very hard to make progress in a loud shelter so we would love to get this special boy into a very quiet foster home.

These three dogs spent their whole lives living in a kitchen, unaware that there was a whole other world outside of this. Being removed from the only environment that they have ever known has been deeply traumatic for them. They need heroes. They need people who will be patient, gentle and compassionate to help them adapt to some level of a "normal" life. They also need friendly resident dogs to show them the ropes. Sam emerged from the deepest darkness as the most dazzling bright light and so we have faith that in time, Peter and Alex can shine too. Secure gardens are a must if you would like to foster one of our Trickies and we will provide full back up support to anyone who can selflessly welcome one of our special boys into their home to heal.
