MADRA Gerald is loving our dry and calm day today at the kennels, those soft eyes would melt your 💙 #AdoptDontShophttps://t.co/6noxEULBF6
Lexi, the Mum of our baby shep pups, Apollo, Atlas and Athena. She’s here and she’s safe. This is the start of her new life. Let’s make it the best life we can

She has been through the mill and over the last few weeks she has been in safe kennels waiting for her turn to come to the MADRA kennels and to get her chance at a happy ever after life. We first had to bring her to meet Athena, just to give them the chance to reconnect. We felt it was important that Lexi got the chance to see her pup was ok and allow her an understanding that all was well with Athena.

Mother Nature is not cruel enough to allow Lexi to understand that only one pup survived; rather she would have had an endorphin rush from the scent of her pup and the interaction between them. It was no Disney moment – real life rarely is – but there was a real and genuine spark of recognition between the two, which was an honor to witness. Athena was so scared at first but you could tell the exact minute she recognised the scent of her real Mum, they touched noses and there was a moment of connection between them.

Lexi is so exhausted and needs to focus on herself now that she knows that Athena is doing fine and that she is in a safe place for recovery.

Lexi is pretty wrecked with mange and some nasty hotspots, for which she has had treatment, so needs a loving & caring foster home asap. She is older than her years and we hope that with some tlc she can revert to her real age which we think may be about 7. Lots of puppies and poor nutrition over the years has aged her terribly. She is very, very quiet and oh so gentle....... Truly she will require very little to make her happy as even the most basic home will be heaven to her.

Our only focus now is to restore her broken body and find her a fantastic new home so she can move onto the next, most wonderful stage in her life.

**Update***

Lexi's health issues have cleared up nicely. She is blossoming in foster care! She is looking for a home where her special person will be home with her for most of the day.
