We’re always getting in puppies of different breeds (sometimes all at once!) and they most often don’t get their own listing as they move on so fast, so if you’re looking for a puppy, please get in touch with us!

Mario

Mario is a Staffie x about a year old. He is very cute and not quite as big as a Staffie but he has that great happy, loving temperament that makes the Staffie so popular. Mariowould be ideal for a person who is home a lot as he can get lonely, but he would also be more than happy to go out on trips with you as he travels very well in the car. Mario would be ideal as a family pet and is very playful with other dogs and people.

SLIPPER

Slipper came from the local pound and is a very happy Collie x girl of about 6 months old. She will be a med sized dog when older and is a giddy goose who loves to play. She will make an ideal pet for an active family and will hugely benefit from some TLC as she has had a hard time of it so far. She will return your love tenfold and will be a loyal and faithful companion.

SARAH

Sarah is an English Bull Terrier who has been returned to us due to no fault of her own. She is such a sweet dog and has lived with cats and other dogs although we feel she would be better suited to being an only dog. She is a very low maintenance girl and LOVES her bed but once you get her outside she brightens up and will happily go swimming in Summertime chasing floating sticks. Sarah would suit a person who may work away from home for several hours in the day as she is a very clean dog and will sleep in her bed until you are ready to bring her out. The perfect dog for this weather as she will put no pressure on you to take her out in the lashing rain for a walk.

RINGO

This boy is possibly a Labrador x Collie mix of about a year old. We found him in the local pound and he is still a little thin after living on the streets for so long but he will blossom when he gets some proper food and care. Ringo is a gentle dog, not too boisterous, and will settle into most households once he gets plenty of walks and lots of games. He can be a little shy, particularly of strange men, but he is a quick learner and will soon realise that not all men will be unkind to him.

COMRADE

Comrade is currently in foster care and his fosterer says he's a model dog: "After having Comrade for just over a week, i really do not understand how his owners could have just left him. He is a pleasure to have around, loves people and children. Just wants to be with someone all the time. He doesn't wander, comes when he is called settled in the house so quickly it was unreal. Such an easy dog, all he wants is company and the occasional fire to flop in front of."

The dog warden brought Comrade to us after he was found going from house to house looking for shelter and food. He was told by people in the area that Comrades owners had moved away and just left him behind which is such a cowardly thing to do to a trusting friend. Comrade is a male Collie x of about 4 or 5 years old who is a large dog but as he is so calm and well mannered, he will settle into most homes without any problem.

ROCKY

Rocky is a stunning Collie boy who may be a discarded working dog as he has yet to learn how to be loved and cuddled by humans. He is affectionate, but is keen to be busy and will most likely need a new owner with some experience of the breed and who has an active lifestyle. Rocky is a tall, athletic dog and he gets on well with all the other dogs here. The volunteers love him as he really enjoys his walks and it’s a real pleasure to see how much he enjoys life rummaging in the seaweed or sniffing out the local wildlife. Rocky is about 2 years old.

SOCKY

Socky is a sweet little guy brought into us by the local dog warden lately. He is a Collie crossed with something smaller and is the most, gentle unassuming boy we have had in a long time. He loves people but lacks a little courage and needs to be introduced slowly. He may have had a bad experience or may just be shy by nature, but one thing is for sure and that is that he will be a faithful and loyal companion for his lucky new owner. Socky is only 6 months old and will gain confidence every day with the right owner.

SYKES

Sykes has come a long way since Marina collected him from the dog pound in a completely shut down state and has blossomed in his foster home. Sadly the home he was booked to go to didn’t work out, as the resident dog wouldn’t accept him, so he is once again looking for a home. He has been an absolute gent in his foster home, great with people and other dogs. He is looking for a very special human to spoil him for the rest of his days to make up for the misery of the first part of his life.

We found this little guy in the local pound looking very sad and covered in manges and crusty sores on his body. He seems completely shut down either because he has never known any affection or because circumstances have caused him to give up on the human race as a lost cause. I sat beside him, scratched his chin, stroked him but no response at all he just hung his head and shivered. I picked him up and he showed no resistance so I brought him home and he is now settled in under a heated lamp with a cosy bed. I'm still not getting much reaction from him but I can pet him and he perks up his head when he sees me coming. No wag of the tail just yet but I'm hopeful we will get there. Sykes looks and acts like an old dog but judging from his teeth he could be as young as a year old and with a little TLC he will become a loyal and faithful companion.

CINNAMON

Cinnamon is yet another Lurcher type we got from the local dog pound. He is a lively boy who is still recovering from a bad dose of mange but we think he will be a real stunner when his coat grows back properly. He is young, maybe 10 months old, and is full of mischief and devilment. He is a lovely dog though that will really prove to be a fantastic companion when he has been taught a few basic commands.

LOLLIPOP

Another Staffie type we found in the local dog pound, Lollipop is a very affectionate, friendly girl who adores everyone she meets. She is not a heavy-set dog and is light on her feet so she may have some other type of Terrier in her history, not that it makes any difference. She has the big Staffie heart and will make a fabulous pet for anyone who wants a faithful, loyal and entertaining companion.

APRIL

April is a lovely chunky Staffie girl who is a fantastic ambassador for the breed. She is cuddly and friendly but independent and easy going so will suit practically any new family looking for a four legged friend. April gets on with other dogs, cats, children and she keeps her kennel clean and travels well in the car. What more do you need in a buddy? April is about 3 years old.

Bobby

Hi, my name is Bobby and I am a Collie.
I think I'm about 5 but it's hard to remember that far back!
I did have a family but they lost me and as they hadn't either microchipped or even put a collar and tag on me, they couldn't find me again. Thankfully a very nice lady came to the scary pound where I was and took me to her rescue. It is nice here but I have been used to my own bed and would just love a home of my own again.
People tell me I walk a little like a high stepping pony because I step my toes up so high. I just know it gets me from place to place!!
I am told I am quite and gentle - I think these are good things, maybe you do too? I really don't need a lot of entertaining, I love a nice walk and a warm bed and food in my belly as I really just want someone to love me and I promise to love you back ten fold...
Oh yeah, I better have a well enclosed garden so I don't get lost again.

LARRY

Very pleased to meet you, my name is Larry and as you can see I am a lab. I am eight or nine, my people weren't sure which. I lived with them all this time but there has been a change in the family and they can't keep me anymore. I was upset about it but the nice people here at the rescue have helped me settle in and they keep telling me that because I am such a nice boy - well, let's be honest, I'm a man really- I should have no trouble finding a new family. I hope not, I have spent my whole life being the best dog I can be and want to continue doing that. I want a nice family that will love me and take me for walks, they don't have to be marathons, I am getting on a bit after all.

BILKO

Sergeant Bilko at your service, well just Bilko really but I think the extra authority in the full title suits me, don't you.
I am a six (ish) month old Akita. As anyone who knows Akitas will know, I will need an experienced owner. I will get big and strong and it's best for you and for me that I am well trained or I might pull you too hard on the lead for example and then walks would not be fun for either of us. I know I sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet here but man, I'm so good looking! They tell me I a pure breed, not really sure it matters all that much cause I know I'm as nice inside as I look from the outside. I am full of love and really want to share it with you.

LACY

Hi, I’m Lacy. I am 6 and used to have a loving family but they had to send me to the nice lady to see if she could get me a new home because my family can’t keep me anymore. I don’t know why exactly but I do know for sure that it is nothing that I did wrong. I’m trying hard to be brave and strong but I am finding it all a little overwhelming. I know everyone expects us big doggies to be brave all the time but as anyone who knows Sheps knows, we are really just big softies. I’m sorry if you can see my lips trembling in my photo, I am trying very hard not to cry and make a fuss but it’s hard. I hope and pray I can find a new home soon, with someone who knows how to relate to us big sensitive types. I’ll then be able to blossom and relax. My main aim in life is to have a family of my own to look after and love and who will do the same for me.

APRIL

I’m a little like the month I’m named after. I am sunny and lovely and a bit skittish. I love playing a game of “see the gap and try to escape through it”. I try not to and with a little training and love, I promise I won’t continue to do it but until now it was one of the only ways I got any attention. The way I looked at it, even bad attention was better than none. The nice lady tells me that it doesn’t have to be like that; she says you are out there – my new family- and that you will love me and teach me to “heel” and “stay” and other things that will be fun to learn. I think I’m two but to be honest, I can’t really remember. I think I will just start counting from now.

BEN

Go on, admit it, I’m a hunk – right? I’m a beagle cross and just yummy looking. I am very calm and sweet and lovely. I am just one of those all round good guys who loves everyone and to be fair, everyone loves me. I can’t really remember how I ended up in the scary pound; I think maybe I have just blocked it out. I am eternally grateful to the nice lady for taking me to her place to help me find a new home. I am only a babe really, just under a year, so I will be a small to medium sized ball of love and kisses when I am done with growing. I would love a home with a fenced garden and a boy – or girl – of my very own. The least I deserve, right?

Hi there, I am Dina and I am a German Shepherd. Lots of people think that makes me brave and fearless but to be honest, the opposite is true. I am a big scardey cat. I was lost and running around a housing estate and even though the nice people tried to help me, I kept running away. Bad people had been mean to me and I thought all humans were the same. Then a very nice man was really patient with me and eventually I went into his garden. He then took me here to the angel lady – that’s what we dogs call her when she’s not listening - and, even though I am still afraid and upset, I am learning that life can be good. I love the other doggie inhabitants and I am learning that the two legged type are good too. It will take me a little while longer to feel totally happy with humans I don’t know but I am getting there. I am soft and sensitive and anyone who knows about my breed will know I am going to bloom and become a dog in a million.

AERO

Hello. I would love to say pleased to meet you all but just right now I am feeling a little dazed. You see my human died and because no one had thought about what would happen to me and my sister Silke in such an event, we both ended up in the pound. I can not begin to explain to you the shock and pain of it all. One day we are living our lives as normal, the next – bang. We are in a scary pound full of other scared dogs, the smell of terror and abandonment all round. I was horrific, we cuddled in together and just trembled. Then, out of nowhere this lovely kind lady came and took us away to her rescue. Never was a place better named – we were rescued from a nightmare. Our home was quiet and calm. We had a steady routine, so all this change has been such a shock but we will get better. I am determined to bloom and thrive. I have a funny smiley face, I lift my lip to greet you and want to connect with you. You will have to be a little patient with me, I have been through a lot but with your help and understanding I will get there. I am a spaniel boy so when I get a little better I would love somewhere to run and romp and play. Sike and I have had a talk and we have decided that we are ok to be parted and to go to separate homes.

Hi Guys, I am Jack and according to the angel lady, I am a stunning long haired collie. You know what, now that I take a step back and look at myself, she is right, I am hot! I am a bit shy, so it has taken me a while to gain the confidence to realise what a great dog I can be. I start out thinking I am ok and secure, then I get the hebe-gebees , that ever happen to you? And I sort of run away a bit, then I have a stern talk to myself and run back to. I know it seems a bit odd but I am really trying to stop it and I will. I just need some firm consistency in my life. I could be like one of the fly ball dogs in Cruffs, all flowing locks of shiny hair and smiley faced enthusiasm. I just need someone to bring me out of my shell and help me shine. I am sure you can imagine how difficult it is to go from a situation where every human you meet wants to do you down, to then finding that they all want nothing more than your comfort and well being. It is hard to learn to accept the kindness of humans, but I am getting there. My default setting is one of love and care, so that stands in my favour. All the new stuff is hard to get used to, but I do love learning. I would love home to call my own and a fenced garden to run and play in. Throw in a loving family and I am in heaven.

MINNIE

They call me Skinny Minnie and I have to say, I can’t blame them. I am quite literally skin and bone. The kind lady says she really has no idea how I am still alive. Well, I know. I just wouldn’t give the very bad people the satisfaction of dying. Do you know what they did to me? Are you ready for this – they kept me tied up, rarely fed me. Then they got sick of that and drove me out into the countryside and just dumped me! They didn’t even have the good grace to take the chain and lock off my neck. The angel lady said some bad words about them when she found me I can tell you. The chain had to be cut off my neck, it was heavier than me. Every bone in my body was sticking out, being starved is no fun. I am coming around though and I am determined to put this nastiness behind me. I want to love and be loved, with some kindness I will forget all about the past and blossom into a great dog. I am less than a year old so I have my whole life ahead of me. The angel lady says she can see my lovely nature emerging more strongly by the day. Please come to see me, I bet you won’t be disappointed.

Would you like to be my 3 musketeers? Well, you don’t have to be 3, any number will do. I am a regal and impressive looking collie boy. I am as stunning and noble inside as I look outside, I have to be to live up to my wonderful name. Like many of my breed, I ended up in the pound through no fault of my own, I was simply surplus to requirement and out I had to go. I know in my heart that not all humans are as cruel and so I place my trust in you again. I need you to take me home, to give me a place by your fire and in your heart. I need to feel your love through kind hands and soft words. I need to know that I can close my eyes in peace. I need to know that my bowl will never be empty. These may sound like simple things but they are not things I have been able to depend on up to now. It is remarkable that I still hold firm to the notion that I love people and promise you that I will live the remainder of my life proving my love to you over and over.

Hello, my name is Pippa. I am a Pointer and I am a big girl. I was a well loved pet and used to all the comforts of home but I got lost and as usual, no chip and no collar = misery. I am sure for my family as well as for me, so all you humans – get your pets chipped or at the very least put collars and discs on us. Now, lecture over, let’s get back to me. I am a little me, me. I love attention and love you to talk to me and let me know you love me. I am bouncy and lively so perhaps it is best that I don’t live with very little kiddies. I wouldn’t mean to but it is possible I might knock them down. I would hate for that to happen as I love people and want only for them to love me back. I would love a big fenced in garden to play in because I have lots of energy and jest for life. I deserve a second chance at a proper pets life so please be the family to give it to me. Thank you.

Wispa

Meet the lovely Wispa. This stunning girl is a young Whippet X Collie and is the latest lucky dog to benefit from being fostered by Sinead, who has this to say about her:
Wispa has only been with us a few days and already she has settled into her new surroundings. She gets on very well with our dogs, loves to potter around the garden, she is not nervous around the usual household noises i.e. the vacuum cleaner. She is a lovely dog to walk and quietly waits for traffic to pass. She is a very good traveller in the car, and enjoys the spins! She is a young dog who deserves a family to show her kindness. She greets us each morning with a stretch and a happy wag of her tail!

PHOEBE

Phoebe is also in a foster home while she waits for her new family.
She was found straying and showed signs of recently having had puppies, but no puppies were to be found. The vet says she is around four and is a very affectionate girl who loves her rubs and cuddles and loves people so much that her whole body starts wagging when you pay her some attention. She is currently in a home with two other dogs, but would be quite happy as an only dog. Phoebe walks well on a lead and is an easy dog who would be ideal for an older person, although she also loves children, so would be happy in a home with older kids as well.

BREWSTER

Hello, I’m Brewster and I’m a JRT. I was attacked by some other dogs and got quite badly injured. Thankfully nice people found me and brought me to the vet for treatment. To be honest, at this point it looks worse than it is. It will all heal and I should be right as rain. I don’t hold a grudge against dogs as a result; life is too short for that. I’m only young, maybe less than a year old. I am lively and interested in all around me so would love a home where there is a bit of activity.

BINGO

My name is Bingo and I am a collie. I am around 6 months old and quite lively. I am good with people and other dogs. Like most collies I love being busy, so a family that likes being out and about would suit me so well. I am very good looking with a lovely shiny coat.

BORIS

Hello, my name is Boris and I am a male JRT. I am small but I am tough and compact. My little body is just pure muscle. I can be a little reserved and shy but once I get to know you I am sure I will blossom. I like walks and sniffing out new smells. Like many of my breed I can be a busy boy when out and about but can also laze around with the best of them.

JOEY

Joey is a young Labrador lad, we think maybe 8-12 months old. He appears to be a pure breed, he is certainly very handsome. He came to us from the pound and has a very nasty sore ring around his neck. Obviously the result of a rope tying him up or an outgrown collar. Either way, it suggests a definite lack of care. He is typical of his breed; bouncy, lively and interested. He needs a home where he will get lots of stimulation and training.

KAI

Hi, I am Kai. I am a tri color collie of about 6 months of age. I am a gentle boy and I am so eager to please. I really do love people; I get on really well with other dogs too. I am just an all round good guy. I think I would slot into most home situations. My coat is short, so it wouldn’t need much grooming after our walks. I am told I have I have the loveliest soft kind eyes, I think I probably do.

BUTTONS

Buttons is a little staffie JRT cross. He stands about 10inches tall. He was surrendered to the pound by his family as they were moving house. We think he is about 5 but as there was no information left with him, we are not sure. We called him Buttons because he is as just as cute as a button. He is bright and cheerful and so enthusiastic about everything. He was a family pet and will be again. He will be snapped up by anyone meeting him; you really couldn’t help but be charmed by his cuteness.

ROSIE

Rosie is a lovely Staffie girl. She came to us from the pound as she was found wandering, abandoned and in heat. She was so lucky to end up with us rather than in more unscrupulous hands. She is typical of her breed; fun, energetic, entertaining and kind and would fit into most family situations. She will benefit from some activity and direction but will make a fantastic pet.

TAGG

Tag is my name but it could be Velcro too! I just love people so much, I pin myself to their side. I follow after them; I lay beside them, I just want to be near them. I am a total cuddle monster. I am friendly to everyone; people and dogs. I am a collie chap of about 18 – 24 months old. I am active and cheerful and would like a home where there is something to keep me on my toes.

PIXI, POPPET & PEPE

Pixie, Poppet and Pepe: Three month old terrier poodle cross balls of fluff. They are utterly gorgeous. The 2 girls and 1 boy were found abandoned in a garden. They were a little shy and shell shocked when they came to us but they are blossoming by the day. They will be small to medium in size when fully grown. PETE

Hi there, I’m Pete. I am a collie type boy and I think I am about six. I did have a lovely human of my own and we had a great time together. Unfortunately, my human had to go into a care home and I ended up on the streets. I have spent my life being a loyal companion, so I know how to give and receive love and friendship. I had a problem with my eye and my human insured that I had the best veterinary treatment. Unfortunately, I lost my eye but don’t worry, it doesn’t bother me at all. I am still quite lively and interested in life, so a moderately active home would suit me best. There is, as they say, life in the old dog yet!

YOGI

I am Yogi and no, I’m not really a bear but I am the size of one. I am only about 4 months old but I am huge – the size of a grown Lab already and I still have a long way to go! The people here think I am a Newfoundland cross. I have a glossy black coat which is thick and woolly. My nature is just adorable; I’m really a goofy big pup. I will need someone who is good with big dogs and really takes the time to train me well so I don’t pick up bad habits, which is one of the main reasons some of us guys end up in the pound. I will need lots of space, indoors and out – don’t be under any illusion, I will be a big boy but I will be a cuddly monster. Full of love and doggie slobbers.

GLEN

Glen is a very distinctive collie boy. He has one blue and one brown eye and his coat is mainly white, with what looks like blue freckles on it. He is only about a year old but we are pretty sure it has been a rough year for him. He has never seen or felt human kindness; he actually would have preferred other dog company to that of human before he came to us from the pound. However, in the time he has been here, he has come on in leaps and bounds. He is learning day by day that humans are good. He would benefit from a home with very calm and patient owners as he is still a little shy.
